An (Overdue) Update

Well, well, well. Look who finally decided to show their face again after all this time…

It’s me. It’s my face.

Yeah, it’s been a while hasn’t it?

Sorry everyone. I honestly wasn’t expecting to disappear like that and I feel awful for doing it. The truth is that things got a little overwhelming in my personal and professional life and, unfortunately, this was the result.

Remember how, way back in my last update, I said, “I might have to scale back on the posting juuuuuuuust a little, teeny tiny bit so I can focus on my awesome new job?” Yeah. Who knew that even dream jobs still involve a FRIGGIN TON of work? Not me, apparently!

Anyway, after a very long and very extended absence, I finally feel like I’ve gotten the hang of this whole work/life balance thing. Hopefully. Maybe. But either way, I’m back and I’m so excited to get started again! I love my job, but there’s nothing quite like digging through my hoard to find another book to enjoy and share with you all.

Of course, I’m still going to be scaling back a bit, mostly because I’m an old and cranky book dragon and I just don’t have it in me to return to my old posting schedule… yet. We’ll see. The best laid plans of mice and dragons and all that.

For now, I’m going to start with one review per month, and from there, we’ll see how it goes! I have a number of very kind and patient authors who are long overdue a review and they will be my top priority for the foreseeable future.

I’m also going to be (trying) to post more of my writing here, so expect to see lots of that in the future as well. The plan for now is to post one short story or chapter a month to encourage me to actually put pencil to paper again. I can’t promise they will be good or even legible at this point. But it’s all about baby steps (and the hope that you guys will be gentle with your criticisms).

I’m also going to try and try my hand at some slight redesign for the blog. New year, new background, and new logo as well. Im hoping to have it all set and ready to debut before the end of the year. But like everything else, it’s going to be baby steps and finding what works, so I appreciate everyone’s patience.

Finally, I want to end this by apologizing once again for disappearing, and to thank all the readers who still checked in on my little online-dragon hoard while I was away. Seeing your views really made my day, and gave me the encouragement I needed to get back into a hobby I love. You’re all amazing, and I’m sending out good vibes to each and every one of you.
